Social media marketing means using social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to promote your brand and sell your product or service.

If your business comes out with a new item and you plan to promote the launch on social media, that’s social media marketing. If you interact with your customers via comments, that’s social media marketing. And if you create engaging content that showcases your brand’s values and story, that’s social media marketing too.

When we want to develop the Social Media of our business, this should be done with a plan and strategy. It’s nice to have our own accounts and upload content whenever we want. For our business, however, we will have to follow a different tactic. So through the right strategy we will see the desired increase in our audience and by extension our sales.

We research our audience

It is absolutely important to look at the demographics of our audience. This means we should understand who our audience is. Are they mostly men, women or children and teenagers? Do they live in cities or provinces? What are their interests and what platforms do they use? These questions are easy to answer with the various tools like Google Analytics.

We act on data

This means that once we understand who our audience is, we shape our entire presence on each network accordingly. In short, if more male users interact on our business Facebook and more teenagers interact on Instagram, then the content on these networks should match.

We study our competition

It is especially important to know who our competitors are. What do they offer their own audience? If we look at this, we can easily find what our comparative advantage is. That is, to identify what it is that we do best or what we offer that is new and different.

We create original content

And the time comes when we have to post content. It would be good to create original content as often as possible. So our audience will eagerly wait to see our next publication. We may also ask our audience to interact with our posts. Even a simple like counts very positively. Even better if we manage to start a dialogue with our audience.

We listen to our audience

The right Social Media strategy considers it necessary to listen to our audience. Of course, this does not mean listening only to what our audience says or requests, but also to what they don’t say. For example, if one of our publications went wrong, we have to search and find the error. Then we proceed to fix it and add improvements. And of course, when our audience leaves us comments it is important to always respond politely, even to negative comments.
